We humans share a special bond with our furry, feathery and scaly family members. They never talk back and are always happy to see us. We have two litter mate pups, now 10 years old, who are our defacto children since our human offspring have grown and moved out on their own. They bring us an incredible amount of joy (even if they can be a bit yappy when the UPS driver rings the doorbell). Funny, I never considered myself a "dog person" until we took these two into our home and now my phone and social media accounts are filled with photos of these two Yorkierriers.
Last year I began painting portraits of pets, (and the occasional human). What started as a portrait of one of our fur babies has turned into quite the hobby. Primarily through word of mouth, I've now provided portraits for nearly 100 pet owners. Some of the pets have traveled over the rainbow bridge which is a bittersweet experience for me, but I do love being able to provide their owners a sweet remembrance of their cherished loved ones after they've gone.
Some of the portraits I've done have been surprise gifts to celebrate special occasions. After all, a custom painted pet portrait sure beats a tie, novelty t-shirt, or Panera gift card, (no offense Panera - love your sandwiches).
So if you're ever looking for that special gift for someone (or yourself - because, hey you deserve it!), consider a painting of your special furry someone. I'd love to work with you on a family keepsake that you'll cherish for years to come!
